ITS NOT MY CREATION

Yes Friends that's true, this post is not my creation and if I put it in a filmy term I AM INSPIRED.

Now a days we are ALWAYS in a rush, rush to go to work, rush to finish the work, rush to pass through the traffic, meeting our friends, meeting family (who we just able to say hi and then collapse on bed as we are dead tired). We surely can’t change it much however don’t you think we can atleast make this a bit better???

So let’s start the therapy… Therapy for a simpler life if not changed one J

90/10 Principle of Stephen Covey
Ya I know you would say I heard / read this one before, honestly I felt the same when I was going through this the other day then one thing struck me… How many of us are following this???

Not many

So let’s revisit it… again and again till we start implementing it.

Lets discover the 90/10 Principle. It will change our lives or at least the way we react to situations.

What is this principle?

10% of life is made up of what happens to us. 90% of life is decided by how we react.

Let's take an example – You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just what happened. What happens when the next will be determined by how you react. You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit. After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home, When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter. Why did you have a bad day?

A) Did the coffee cause it?

B) Did your daughter cause it?

C) Did the policeman cause it?

D) Did you cause it?

The answer is "D".

You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what could have and should have happened. Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say," It's ok honey, you just need, to be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having. Notice the difference? Two different scenarios.

Both started the same.

Both ended different.

Why? Because of how you REACTED. You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction.

And if you wish to claim that you already applying this in your life I would surely want to hear from you.

And if you don’t, please share your story here how your positive/ negative reaction turned the situation.

Would love to hear from you Keep living and not just reacting.

My First Pay Cheque !!

"Mom !! Dad !! I got my first cheque !!"
"Yeppie !! I got my first pay cheque, Its party time !!"

Some of the gestures that would have taken you to the flashback, the moment you would have read the title !!
Yes, I can too surely connect to it... MY FIRST PAY CHEQUE...!! Its an awesome feeling that places you right on the top of the world !! Whatever the amount be, what matters is the hard work that paid handsomely!!

At a tender age of  17 when I decided to take up a part time assignment to earn some pocket money for myself, I was quite apprehensive. It was a promotional activity of a product that involved standing under the scorching sun, trying to speak to the people, informing them about the services. As the days passed, I came to realize that the task was way tougher than I thought it would be.

A typical day of mine used to look like this:
1. Get up at 6am in the morning !!
2. Go to College !!
3. Post college rush to work - slog my ass out the evening !!
4. Walk back home !!
5. Again leave for tuition classes !!

Everyday seem tougher than the previous one !! Many times I asked myself why I need to do so much of hard work !! At times I got scared that is this how the life would be after college?

But, then I smiled and decided to learn as much as I could !!

Days kept passing.. Experienced few difficult moments, few funny moments, learning moments and many more. At last the day came for which I was waiting anxiously -  The "30th DAY" of the Month - "MY FIRST PAY CHEQUE DAY !!"

Tears rolled out of my eyes when I took the cheque and studied the amount written over it !! I realized how hard people work for, which we often spent in one go !!

Its been years since that incident happened. I completed my graduation & post graduation as well. I started working, earning and making my cheques look even better. However, nothing can replace the excitement & the charm of the feeling which I shared with my "FIRST PAY CHEQUE !!"

I know those of you who are already earning would cherish this feeling & who are gonna start earning would very soon experience this beautiful feeling !! ALL THE BEST

Feel free to share your experience or to post your comments on this !! Cheers !!
